The Firelit Poetry Prize honors the single poem each journal (of the ~50 invited to participate) most wants readers to remember. With no outside judges or jury, the winning poems are selected by the editors of the magazine in which the poem originally appeared and collected in an anthology out January 1 in print and ebook. The inaugural Firelit Poetry Prize anthology will be published the first day of 2027.

Firelit was founded by Timothy Green and Katie Dozier, editors at Rattle, in collaboration with Melissa Balmain (Light), George David Clark (32 Poems), Mark Danowsky (ONE ART), Boris Dralyuk (Nimrod International Journal), Jen Karetnick (SWWIM Every Day), Steve Knepper (New Verse Review), Paul Miller (Modern Haiku), and David Wanczyk (New Ohio Review).
